PETITION DRIVE: Gather Signatures to Protect Children from Library Smut!

Want to get involved in the statewide effort to protect children from school and library pornography?

Help gather signatures for our petition urging state legislators and Gov. Little to take care of this problem once and for all!

You can download and print paper petitions by clicking this link. Good places to gather signatures include churches, small groups, social clubs, and Christian schools. Don’t be scared to ask your pastor or school principal for permission!

Please return completed petitions by February 23rd. You can either scan and email the completed petitions to [email protected], or snail mail paper petitions to our mailing address (1116 S. Vista Ave, Suite 227, Boise, ID 83705).

We want as many signatures as possible when we present this petition to state legislators and Gov. Little during the last week of February.

You can make a difference to protect children’s innocence—so please get involved!

Recommended Talking Points:

  • Pornographic materials harm developing minds and contribute to juvenile delinquency, sexual deviancy, and sexual violence.
  • No one is talking about “banning” books. We’re simply asking that schools and libraries take reasonable steps to prevent children from accessing pornographic materials.
  • Our taxpayer dollars should never be used for the purpose of making sexually explicit materials available to children.
  • The First Amendment does not require libraries to make obscene materials available to children. In fact, all members of the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously agreed that public libraries have a “legitimate” and “compelling” interest in “protecting young library users from material inappropriate to minors” (U.S. v. American Library Association, 2003).
  • More than 50 public school and community libraries across Idaho make pornography available to children, according to a report by Idaho Family Policy Center.
  • According to recent statewide polling, nearly 75% of likely Idaho voters believe schools and community libraries should keep pornographic materials away from minor children.
