URGENT ALERT: Ask Idaho Senators to Protect Religious Freedom!

With national news media focusing their attention on the Russian missiles that allegedly killed two people in NATO-allied Poland yesterday, you may not have heard that Democrats in the US Senate are fast-tracking federal legislation that would not only further entrench same-sex marriage but also devastate religious freedom.

The so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” redefines marriage in federal law. According to reports, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) plans to take up the bill as soon as TODAY. This development comes months after the US House of Representatives passed the bill this summer, with an unexpected 47 Republicans crossing party lines in support.

Our friends at Alliance Defending Freedom have analyzed the legislation, and they’ve issued grave warnings about the threats it poses:

This bill tramples religious freedom in our country. The government would use this new definition of marriage as a cudgel to coerce all Americans into accepting its definition or face punishment by the state.

This could include churches, schools, and private associations being stripped of their tax-exempt status or being dragged into court simply because they desire to operate according to their sincere beliefs about marriage.

More than 80 organizations – including Idaho Family Policy Center – signed onto a letter this summer asking Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to oppose the legislation. He has since said he will not reveal his position until Schumer announces a vote.

Seeing that nearly 50 House Republicans already joined House Democrats in their unprecedented assault against biblical morality and religious freedom, we can’t assume that Republican senators will stand strong.

Will you take one minute to send a prewritten message to Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch? They need to hear that YOU want them to protect religious liberty and traditional marriage!
