I just returned from our annual Statesmen Academy® legislator training—and I’m thrilled to share what God is doing!
Each summer, Idaho Family Policy Center has the privilege of sending a group of principled Christian lawmakers to this one-of-a-kind program, hosted by our national partner, Family Policy Alliance Foundation, and joined by other family policy councils from across the country.
Statesmen Academy equips new legislators with the biblical worldview, policy knowledge, and communication tools they need to effectively lead with conviction—both in their state and on the national stage.
More than 50 state legislators from across the nation – each handpicked by their local family policy council – joined the Statesmen Academy class this year.
Idaho Family Policy Center nominated four incredible Idaho leaders to attend:
- Rep. Clint Hostetler (R-Twin Falls)
- Rep. Elaine Price (R-Coeur d’Alene)
- Rep. Jeff Cornilles (R-Nampa)
- Rep. John Shirts (R-Weiser)
And there’s more: Idaho Family Policy Center had the special honor of training lawmakers from across the country on how they can protect children from the tidal wave of sexually explicit materials and performances.
We shared the pioneering legal research and legislative strategy behind our Children’s School and Library Protection Act, as well as our model legislation to protect kids from indecent sexual exhibitions, including drag performances.
Over the past few years, Idaho Family Policy Center has become a national leader in protecting the innocence of children—and now we’re equipping policymakers in other states to lead on these issues, too!
With this mountaintop week now behind us, our team is reenergized and better positioned to promote God-honoring public policy here at home.
It really is a privilege to be part of the most effective movement in conservative Christian politics—but we can’t do it without your partnership.
