We’ve secured a victory against the Boise School District—and it’s a huge win for the privacy and safety of girls!
You probably already know that the IFPC Legal Center filed a lawsuit months ago on behalf of “Jane Doe,” a high school girl who was twice exposed to a biological male in school bathrooms designated for girls. The lawsuit alleged that the Boise School District violated state law by providing the biologically male student with express permission to use the girls’ bathroom as part of his “gender support plan.”
Now we have big news to share.
Last week, we obtained a settlement for Jane Doe—including $34,000 in damages and attorney fees. The settlement is being paid by the insurance provider for the Boise School District.
Why is this case so important? It’s possibly the first case in the nation successfully brought by a female victim who encountered a biological male in her school bathroom. It’s also the first time anyone has enforced the Idaho school bathroom law, which was researched, drafted, and championed by Idaho Family Policy Center and sponsored by Rep. Ted Hill (R-Eagle) and Sen. Ben Adams (R-Nampa).
We hope this sends a strong signal to every school district that compliance with the law isn’t optional—and we look forward to holding accountable any school district that continues violating the law.
This case illustrates one of the key reasons we launched the IFPC Legal Center. Although we’ve achieved many policy victories over the last several years, these new laws must still be enforced. As Blaine Conzatti, president of Idaho Family Policy Center, has explained:
Leftist legal advocacy groups have gone unchallenged in this state for decades. Without a conservative legal movement in Idaho, local governments have been under constant pressure to cater to the leftist agenda, including radical gender ideology. But now, the IFPC Legal Center is breaking the stranglehold that the liberal legal machine has exercised over our public institutions. It’s time that the Boise School District and others are finally held accountable.
We’re grateful that we’ve been able to secure justice for Jane Doe, who was understandably traumatized by what she experienced in the bathrooms at her school. Here’s what her father shared with the media today:
No girl should ever have to go through what our daughter experienced. We were so happy to find the IFPC Legal Center. Their hard work helped us get justice, and we can’t thank them enough for their support throughout this case.
Bottom line: We’re winning the battle to keep biological men out of women’s spaces—and the momentum to protect the privacy and safety of girls in every bathroom and locker room just keeps growing.
