You might remember that a few years back, dozens of politically involved parents, pro-life activists, and traditional Catholics were labeled “domestic terrorists” and investigated by the FBI.

Frighteningly, one mother was investigated and interviewed by the FBI after a neighbor called an anonymous threat hotline, alleging that she belonged to a “right wing mom’s group” known as “Moms for Liberty” and was also a “gun owner.” It later turned out that the mother had simply expressed that she would seek to replace school board members who had supported student mask mandates.

Senate Bill 1220, which is sponsored by Sen. Kelly Anthon (R-Burley), seeks to protect traditional conservatives from false charges of domestic terrorism. The bill currently awaits a public hearing in the Idaho House Judiciary and Rules committee, where its future is uncertain.
