NEWS ROUNDUP: DEI in Idaho | Labrador takes on the FDA

1. Trans Activist Doctor Hides Study Showing Harm Caused by Puberty Blockers

Always follow the science, unless the science disagrees with your personal politics.

Exhibit A: Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, an adolescent medicine physician “specializing in the care of gender non-conforming children and transgender youth.

Last week, news broke that Dr. Olson-Kennedy had withheld for more than seven years the results of a government-funded medical study examining the effects of puberty blockers on transgender youth.

But when the study finally came to light, Dr. Olson-Kennedy did admit its shocking findings: Contrary to the claims of the medical industrial complex, chemically castrating kids does not improve their mental health.

These results contradict the destructive lie that ‘affirming’ gender identity is necessary for the mental health of children.

If the aim of her medical experimentation is truly to help children, then Dr. Olson-Kennedy would have gladly shared the results of the study. Instead, she chose to cover up the science, saying that she “did not want our work to be weaponized.”

The message is clear: It’s not about helping kids. It’s about furthering radical viewpoints—even at the expense of children.

2. Idaho Legislature Launches Taskforce to Investigate DEI Practices

Last week, the Idaho legislative DEI task force – charged with examining the prevalence and impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in our state – met for the first time.

The interim committee is co-chaired by Rep. Judy Boyle (R-Midvale) and Sen. Todd Lakey (R-Nampa).

In their first meeting, committee members began the process of investigating DEI and the radical social justice initiatives that plague our state government agencies.

The need to reveal how DEI policies poison Idaho’s government and education system is greater than ever. Having witnessed the rapid expansion of DEI positions and programs in recent years, the public seems to have had enough. And now, even woke corporate America is starting to avoid DEI terminology.

Although the Idaho legislature has enacted some limited reform to prohibit DEI statements in higher education hiring and admissions decisions, state law still does not protect students from being indoctrinated with DEI programs and curriculum.

With the launch of this interim DEI committee, our state legislature is taking another step in the right direction—albeit slowly. But their work isn’t done until the harmful influence of DEI is fully eradicated from every level of our state government.

3. Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador Joins Fight Against FDA Effort to Expand Abortion Pill Access

Earlier this month, Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador joined AGs in Missouri and Kansas in suing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over their illegal efforts to dangerously expand access to the abortion pill mifepristone.

The lawsuit contends that the federal regulations in question impede the enforcement of state abortion restrictions and endanger women. According to their complaint:

The FDA has enabled online abortion providers to mail FDA-approved abortion drugs to women in states that regulate abortion—dispensing abortion drugs with no doctor care, no exam and no in-person follow-up care. These dangerous drugs are now flooding states like Missouri and Idaho and sending women in these states to the emergency room.

This new legal challenge follows on the heels of a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court last summer to dismiss a similar case brought against the FDA by pro-life doctors. In that case, the Court ruled that the doctors lacked standing to bring their lawsuit.

Thank you, AG Labrador, for fighting to protect the lives of preborn children and their mothers!
