ALERT: Idaho House will vote on Indecent Sexual Exhibitions legislation TODAY!

House Bill 230 – which bans indecent sexual exhibitions, like drag shows and pole dancing, in places where children are present – could receive a vote from the full Idaho House as soon as this afternoon.

Now is the time for you to contact your state representatives and ask them to support this critically important legislation!

Here are some quick facts about this House Bill 230:

  • Utilizes the well-established indecency standard. House Bill 230 uses the same indecency standard that’s also used by the FCC for daytime television—meaning that if content is appropriate for daytime broadcast television, it’s likely allowed under this legislation.

  • Constitutionally sound. House Bill 230 functions as a constitutionally permissible time, place, and manner regulation on indecent sexual exhibitions. It would not ban sexual exhibitions for adult audiences—instead, it would simply require organizers of such performances to hold events in private places and check IDs at the door.

  • Protects non-indecent artistic performances. House Bill 230 was carefully crafted to avoid implicating run-of-the-mill cheerleading, dancing, pageants, or theatrical crossdressing.

  • No criminal penalties. House Bill 230 contains no criminal penalties. Instead, violations would result in civil liability that gives legal recourse to children and their families.

Again, now is the time to send a message to your state representatives to ask for their support—and when you use our Action Center, it only takes a quick minute of your time!
