The Idaho State Legislature adjourned for the year just before 3:00pm on Wednesday, April 10.
I’m happy to share that despite some difficulties and frustrations, it was another fruitful session for the pro-family conservative policy movement.
Behind the scenes, our team at Idaho Family Policy Center was working overtime to achieve big wins for families. Some of our greatest victories this session include:
1. After three years, Gov. Little finally signed legislation protecting children from pornographic library materials. Not only was the bill largely drafted by Idaho Family Policy Center, but our investigative reporting and our public opinion polling on the issue were both regularly cited in legislative debate and media coverage.
2. Sen. Todd Lakey (R-Nampa) and Rep. Ted Hill (R-Eagle) successfully implemented a tough-on-crime approach for fentanyl drug dealers and their cartel suppliers. Our involvement made a difference in the outcome of this legislation—in fact, one House committee member said publicly that one of the reasons she supported the bill is because “Idaho Family Policy Center wants it [passed].”
3. Idaho became the seventh state in the country to protect teachers and other state employees who use biological accurate pronouns, thanks to bill sponsors Rep. Ted Hill (R-Eagle) and Sen. Chris Trakel (R-Nampa). Our comprehensive legal memo on school pronoun policies was read aloud in committee—and we were excited to provide legislative support for this bill throughout the session.
4. As a result of hard work from Rep. Bruce Skaug (R-Nampa) and Sen. Ben Toews (R-Coeur d’Alene), it is now a crime to create AI-generated pornography of real children. Idaho Family Policy Center helped provide legal analysis and contributed language for the bill.
As you can see, Idaho Family Policy Center is leading the charge on the frontlines of the culture wars. We’re excited to keep building momentum for future years, as we continue researching, drafting, and championing God-honoring legislation.
But we can’t do it alone. To support our efforts, please make a generous gift of $65, $135, or $250 today.
