NEWS ROUNDUP: Labrador launches investigation into doctors group promoting child sex changes

1. Idaho AG Continues Fighting Legalized Medical Abuse of Minors

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) claims to be “dedicated to the health of all children.” And nothing says “healthy children” like advocating for puberty blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, and sex reassignment surgeries—all of which have irreversible and harmful effects on a child’s body and fertility.

Last week, Idaho Attorney General Labrador sent a letter demanding the AAP’s cooperation with a consumer protection investigation he has launched into their false claims that puberty blocking drugs are “safe and reversible.”

The letter outlines some of the well-documented dangers linked to these pharmaceutical interventions, as well as the radical agenda undergirding so-called ‘gender-affirming’ care:

Our struggling children cannot have their legitimate mental challenges met with destructive and irreversible chemicals and surgeries instead of compassion, competence, and conscience.

It is shameful the most basic tenet of medicine – do no harm – has been abandoned by professional associations when politically pressured. These organizations are sacrificing the health and well-being of children with procedures that leave a wake of permanent damage.

Labrador also highlighted the Vulnerable Child Protection Act – which was drafted and championed by Idaho Family Policy Center, and sponsored by Rep. Bruce Skaug (R-Nampa) and Sen. Lori Den Hartog (R-Meridian) – as imperative in preventing these abuses:

The Idaho legislature passed the Child Protection Act in 2023 that stopped transgender hormone puberty blockers and surgeries for minors… More and more evidence is being revealed showing that Idaho was right all along to protect our kids from this dangerous and irreversible social experiment.

Thank you, Attorney General Labrador, for addressing the medical industry’s prioritization of political agendas over the well-being of children!

2. Is Idaho Falling Behind in Protecting Religious Freedom?

Idaho residents care deeply about their freedom as Americans, but a recent report suggests that the Gem State is trailing other states in one key area: Religious freedom.

Every year, our friends at First Liberty Institute release their Religious Liberty in the States report, which surveys religious freedom protections across the states.

They’ve identified a troubling trend: Idaho has fallen from 9th place to 29th place in religious freedom rankings over the last three years.

One area where Idaho noticeably lags behind other states is the intersection of marriage, weddings, and religious freedom.

For example, thirteen states (including New York and Illinois) currently have protections in place for ministers, churches, or wedding venues that refuse to perform same-sex weddings on the grounds of religious conviction.

Because Idaho does not have these protections in state law, ministers at The Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur D’Alene faced threats of legal action from the city government several years ago for declining to perform a same-sex wedding.

Read the state religious freedom scorecard for Idaho – as well as recommendations for additional religious freedom safeguards that can be adopted – on First Liberty’s website.

3. More University Volleyball Teams Refuse to Play Confused Biological Man

San Jose State University has drawn a lot of attention lately and for good reason—they have a man who plays on their women’s volleyball team.

Earlier this week, we celebrated Boise State’s decision to forfeit their scheduled volleyball match against SJSU.

And in the last few days, two more Mountain West schools – the University of Wyoming and Utah State University – have since followed suit, also forfeiting scheduled matches with SJSU.

In spite of complaints from female athletes and their coaches, SJSU maintains that the biological male should have the right to play on the team of his choosing. And other universities aren’t having it.

The implication is clear: We are winning. From coaches to parents to athletes to concerned citizens, people understand that encouraging biological males to compete in women’s sports is dangerous and unfair.

But we have to keep up the momentum. Send a message thanking BSU President Marlene Tromp and Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey for standing up for their athletes in the face of the rainbow mafia.
