Pro-Abortion Activists Release Idaho Ballot Initiatives

For months, Idahoans United for Women and Families has openly signaled their intent to dismantle our pro-life protections through potential ballot initiatives.

Last week, they took the first step by filing four such proposals with the Idaho Secretary of State. Organizers will choose at a later time which of the four proposals will end up on the 2026 ballot.

Here’s the good news: Idaho does not allow amendments to our constitution through ballot initiative. This means that any changes to state law made through a ballot initiative can be repealed or amended in the future by the state legislature.

And here’s the bad news: While the specifics for each of the four ballot initiative proposals vary, some of the provisions would:

  • Create a statutory right to abortion through most of the second trimester, allowing the destruction of babies with brain activity, a detectable heartbeat, and the ability to feel pain.
  • Allow late-term abortions in cases of some prenatal disability diagnoses, including children with Turner and Edwards syndrome.
  • Protect the IVF industry, which creates and destroys human embryos for profit.
  • Establish a statutory right to abortifacients that can end the life of a developing human being after fertilization.
  • Enable public schools, colleges, and universities to refer young women for abortion, counsel in favor of abortion, or distribute abortifacients to female students.
  • Possibly override the abortion trafficking statute that protects minor children from being taken across state lines without parental consent for abortions.

We can’t allow abortion-on-demand be imposed on our state! It would be devastating to see our pro-life protections eliminated—after all, the lives of thousands of preborn babies hang in the balance.

Idaho Family Policy Center is well-positioned to lead the opposition effort to defeat these proposed ballot initiatives. But it’s going to take millions of dollars to contend with the pro-abortion lobby. And unlike pro-abortion groups on the political left, we don’t have financial backers like George Soros and MacKenzie Scott Bezos.

Will you prayerfully consider chipping in $100, $500, or $1000 so we can begin mobilizing traditional Idahoans to defend life?

With your help, we will beat back these pro-abortion ballot initiatives—once and for all.
