Legislative session is winding down, but we’re not done yet! Here’s what you need to know as we enter the last scheduled week of legislative session:
Heartbeat Bill Update
Governor Brad Little has not yet signed Senate Bill 1309, which would add a Texas-style private enforcement mechanism to our existing Heartbeat law. This legislation would make our Heartbeat law enforceable for the first time.
Planned Parenthood has said repeatedly that it will no longer offer abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy if the governor signs the bill. And they’re fighting like crazy to make sure he doesn’t. More than 20,000 pro-abortion activists have bombarded the governor’s office with phone calls and emails, all demanding that he veto the bill.
Gov. Little has until Wednesday afternoon to sign the bill into law, so time is running out. If you haven’t already, please send a message to Gov. Little by clicking here, asking him to live up to his pro-life promises by protecting preborn children with beating hearts.
And even if you’ve emailed the governor, please also give his office a call at (208) 334-2100 so you can ask him to sign the Heartbeat bill (Senate Bill 1309). Make sure you leave a voicemail if no one picks up.
Vulnerable Child Protection Act Update
The Vulnerable Child Protection Act (House Bill 675) would ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex reassignment surgeries for gender-confused children. But I’m sorry to report that the Senate State Affairs Committee still has not agreed to give it a hearing.
Legislative session is scheduled to end later this week, so we need the committee to act fast. If you haven’t already, send a message to the committee members, asking them to support this critical legislation.
