Shortly after assuming his second term in office, President Donald Trump issued an executive order beginning the process of rooting out federally funded gender ideology instruction in public schools.
Recognizing the need to clean house in the Idaho public school system, Rep. Dale Hawkins (R–Fernwood) and Sen. Cindy Carlson (R–Riggins) sponsored House Bill 352, which requires public schools to adopt policies restricting radical gender ideology in the classroom.
Schools had until July 1, 2025, to adopt these policies—but according to our newly released Policy Memorandum: Eliminating Radical Instruction in Idaho Public Schools, most public school districts are currently in violation of this new law.
To determine the extent of the problem, Idaho Family Policy Center filed public records requests with every public school district in the state, soliciting their policies and procedures for instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Here’s what we discovered: Over 60% of public school districts currently permit classroom instruction on radical gender ideology by refusing to adopt policies that comply with House Bill 352.
We all know that conversations on sexual orientation and radical gender ideology belong in the family room, not the classroom. But many schools across our state are clearly prioritizing radical gender ideology over the well-being of our children and the rights of parents.
Read and share our report so we can call attention to this widespread problem and eradicate radical gender instruction in Idaho public schools once and for all.
